High School
7th Grade to 12th Grade
High School: 7th to 12th Grade
Still Waters Upper Grades school incorporates students from 5th-12th grade. The Upper Grades program operates a hybrid learning model that empowers students to actively participate in their own education. A master teacher video lecture series is leveraged for core subjects at respective grade level. While classroom activity keeps a standard pace, students are afforded the freedom to complete curriculum at their own rate. This provides the critical flexibility for students to complete easily comprehended material quickly while allowing more time for other concepts that require more time and rigorous thought.
Student-Parent-Teacher Communication is a cornerstone of the Upper Grades experience. 9th-12th grade students participate in Parent-Teacher conferences, giving voice to their goals and support needed from teachers and families. Parents are updated regularly by teachers on all academic, spiritual, social, and emotional topics covered in class. Still Waters Upper Grades understands the importance of parent involvement in a child’s education and actively seeks to inform and engage when it comes to the child’s education
Programming
ST2E2AM Project-Based learning (PBL) provides the framework for practical application of knowledge. Daily ST2E2AM activity time is set aside to work on creative solutions to real-world problems. Core student coursework is integrated with hands-on activities that walk through engineering and design on a path to a final product.
Upper Grades STEAM projects for the 2020-21 school year focus on the creation of a fully-functioning aquaponics system, leveraging the natural relationship between fish waste, plant nutrition, and water filtration. Students are additionally responsible for designing working sensors to monitor the sustainability of their created ecosystem.
Science
Still Waters Biochemistry electives are designed to break down college-level coursework for learning about the periodic table, protein folding, and atomic bonding. The age-appropriate curriculum engages students with the sciences and helps tie real-life connections to learning objectives, such as the effects of hemoglobin and oxygen transport for the body. All biochemical processes are taken within the context of Genesis 1 and 2. As with all SWIA curriculum this stresses the centrality of GOD as the Creator of our truly marvelous natural world and the means of discovery beyond our current limitations.
Music
Worship Band and Music is offered by CHRIST Culture Music Academy for SWIA Upper Grades Middle and High School age students. Live presentations of student progress are also offered during CHRIST Culture Music Academy’s Sunday Music Presentations. Music Classes focus on musical theory, the fundamentals of string and wind instruments through drum sets, violin and guitar, and explore different musical genres to gain an appreciation for the different styles and rhythms in music. Each student will grow musically in skill with each instrument, learn the influence and importance of lyrics through CHRIST-centered songs and understand the importance and purpose of playing music to “make a joyful noise unto the LORD” and bring worship and glory to our GOD ELOHIM.
